PS 201 - A study of the historical, philosophical, and conceptual foundations of contemporary psychology. The course will trace the history of ideas from early Greek philosophy to modern psychology with particular emphasis on the scientific revolution in Germany in 1879. This course combines in-class study with a 13-day trip to visit the cities of Leipzig, Nuremburg, Vienna, and Geneva where you will experience different customs, languages, and cultures. Private coach or public transportation will be provided to all sites on the itinerary. This course can satisfy the Global Awareness Domain or be an elective. Open to all student majors and programs including Traditional and Advance. Admission Criteria Students must submit an online application to the program and pay an initial non-refundable deposit of $250 upfront to hold their spot in the program. Traditional students studying full-time at MMU during fall and spring semesters are not charged for January tuition; but other students must pay tuition for the course. Course grading is pass/fail and students must complete all syllabus assignments to earn the three credit hours. Students should be at the sophomore level or above, or have consent of instructor, in order to participate. Sites Included in the Program: Leipzig's Thomas Church & City Hall, Leipzig"s Wundt Room & Fechner-Haus, Nuremburg's Prozesse Memorium & Imperial Castle, Vienna's Sigmund Freud Museum & favorite coffee shop, Vienna's Frankl Center& Shonbrunn Castle, Geneva's Piaget Archives & United Nations and more... Program costs are considered a mandatory course fee and financial aid can be applied to these costs. Make an appointment early with a financial aid representative to discuss your situation. Make sure the financial aid money will be distributed in time to meet the final payment deadline. The fee is subject to change based on number of participants, currency fluctuations, airfare, taxes, and fuel surcharges. The $250 deposit is non-refundable if you withdraw from the course. The trip balance must be paid in the fall. Class Meetings: The class will have a mandatory pre-departure meeting in November, and you will also meet as a class in January before and after traveling.
