Carlow College offers a wide selection of courses that may count towards your required domains, for your major or minor, or as electives. You can take courses in English, history, philosophy, social sciences, theology, communications/theater, and business. The mandatory Irish experience combines classroom learning with Irish history and musical heritage. The Irish experience offers six field trips to: County Carlow, Dublin City, County Wicklow (The Garden of Ireland), County Wexford, Kilkenny city, and County Kildare. Student Life: Students have the opportunity to live in housing provided by the school that is situated within a short distance to campus and the town center. There are many student services at Carlow College, including clubs, game area, library, and academic support. Carlow is a medium sized college town with a population of around 23,000 and is located 50 miles south of Dublin. The city offers a lively social environment with cafes, restaurants, and small shops. The town is full of history and used to be the capital of the country in the 14th century! Ireland’s capital Dublin is a short bus ride away. Other Information: Mount Mercy University students will pay their usual Mount Mercy tuition along with a $2,900 room charge. This will cover Carlow College tuition, housing, linen rental, field trips, and airport transfers. Not included in the cost: passport, airfare, meals, visa, health insurance, local transportation, and spending money. Application requirements: 3.0 grade point average and completion of a writing competency course at Mount Mercy. Applications should be submitted to Mount Mercy’s Office of International Student Recruitment and Integration by May 2 for fall semester, or by October 1 for spring semester.
